A sudden increase in crankiness and an unexpected decrease in overall sleep are probably the most typical results of a baby sleep regression. Asleep regression may occur during nap time, night time, or even both. It is quite common for a baby to become extremely hungrier after a baby sleep regression than before it.

Sleep regressions occur when a child is left out of his or her normal sleeping pattern. When a baby is left in the same room as a parent, the parent often tries to nurse the baby. If the baby is not breastfed, he or she may have an upset stomach. This usually happens because the parent has a sudden change of heart.
